The first steps
In 2004, Alexandre arrived in London speaking no English and with few resources. Like many immigrants, he found it difficult to establish himself. He worked delivering leaflets and pizzas until he got his first motorbike, a moment that would change his life.
Over time, he started working as a delivery boy and then in the logistics sector. It was at Addison Lee that he won the title of ‘Top Rider’ in 2014 and 2015, a recognition for his exceptional performance. But he wanted more. With a visionary eye, he saw the sale and maintenance of motorbikes as a great business opportunity.
What began as a favour to friends – helping newly arrived Brazilians buy motorbikes – soon became a business. When he realised the growing demand, Alexandre started buying and reselling motorbikes. The possibility of paying in instalments boosted sales even more, but it also brought a new challenge: the need for maintenance for customers.
That’s when he turned his backyard into a workshop and started offering repair services. The business grew rapidly and with it came the need to expand to a larger location. Thus, the first Alexandre Motorcycles unit was born.
Cida: The Woman Behind the Success
If Alexandre had the courage to undertake, Cida was essential to consolidate the business. Her organisation and management skills were key to the company not only growing, but becoming a benchmark in the sector.
